Which power tools combo should I buy the six piece Hitachi Li that offers a 10 year warranty on tools and two years on batteries or the Makita six piece that only offers a 3 year warranty on tools and one on batteries but also offers through rebate another free battery and tool of choice.

I have used both and personally I prefer the Makita over the Hitachi. Both are good but the Makita is my tool of choice.I have a Makita cut off saw I have had for 10 years and still runs like a new one. I have a grinder Makita that is 15 years old and it is still great. My Hitachi power drill quit me after two years. Larry M

I have no experience with Hitachi but all my Makita power tools still work great after many years including using professionally in construction. The oldest Makita I have is a 12V drill I bought in 1998 and still runs great even after dropping many times including a few times when I was high up on a ladder. The original NiCd batteries also still work like new surprisingly! Hope Hitachi is good quality and I have heard good things but I know for sure that Makita is the very best of the best. jablonski9000

I use Makita tools and they work great!

In the tool tests and reviews I have read in many woodworking mags, Makita does better than Hitachi. Check out the web for tool reviews done by Popular Woodworking and Wood Magazine and Consumer Reports. woodbutcher
