Which is the better power tool to buy?
michael b asked:
i know ive probably asked this question sometime before. But id like to ask again. Which is the better tool combo and where to buy it at, sears or Lowe’s. Need to get the best for my low budget. The combo is either porter cable or craftsman.

Craftsmen is always the best choice. dusty_titus
Craftsmen at Sears nuf said xtheeleminator
if you gave me a craftsman i wouldnt use it. get the portercable. i work construction, ask any contractor LenM
Craftsman power tools are NOT what they once were. They are now only good for light occasional use.
I do a lot of woodworking and will not buy a new Craftsman power tool. Go with the Porter Cable, Ryobi, Delta, or Makita. woodbutcher
I agree with “woodbutcher”
Craftsman still makes good hand tools, but for power tools, I would go with porter cable. The make good quality equipment. I’ve bought some craftsman power equipment in the past few years have been quite disappointed. About 8 or 10 years ago, I bought a Porter Cable cordless drill (got a great deal on it from Lowe’s,) and I still use it to this day.
Don’t buy one or the other just because it’s cheaper… tools are an investment! Whatever you buy, make sure you take good care of it!
Hope this helps! P Fizzle
Sears was bought out by Kmart, after Kmart went into BANKRUPTCY.
Many of the Sears tools that USED to carry the lifetime warranties NO LONGER DO, because MANY of them are now imported from CHINA.
Sears USED to be a great place to buy tools - but no longer. What items do still have the lifetime warranty, they are actually giving customers more trouble when being asked to honor that warranty.
I now prefer to buy my lifetime warranty tools by Kobolt, at Lowe’s. You’re looking for a power tool set, I would highly recommend Porter Cable, Bosch, DeWalt, etc. I won’t buy any Craftsman power tools any more - they just don’t hold up.
Good Luck thewrangler_sw
As a contractor with over 30 years experience, I’ll add my vote for Porter Cable tools over Craftsmen every time. Craftsmen tools are fine for the weekend warrior but Porter Cable tools are designed for pros. I have PC tools that are 20 years in service and with sensible care will go on for many years. Craftsmen hand tools are fine, not the power tools. Mark
I found a great site that offers Porter Cable tools at really great prices. They’ve got power tools, accessories, polishers, compressors, abrasives and more.

Hope this helps in your decision making! Lauren
