I’m going to start a car rebuild, and would like to know what’s the best combination of power tool and bit to use to make the grinding and polishing easier.
Well, the car is only a Daihatsu charade, and I’m doing this work on my own because it’s a DIY project. I’m not interested to get professionals except for welding and paint.

The main reason I’m actually grinding off the paint is to see the extent of rust damage, and see if I need to buy new panels, or is it fixable by some welding work.

Many professional auto paint shops strip the paint with chemicals. Any type of abasives or grinding is going to destroy the surface finish and smoothness and might end up creating a lot more work and dust to breath in unless you bring the whole car and have it stripped professionally. bobweb

First you should consider why strip good paint? If in fact you do need to strip the car down to bare metal and you are unsure on how to do so (no offense) you might not be the right person to do the job. Bodywork is an art. Many people try to do it thereself but you have seen the results I am sure. Leave it to the pros. erik c
