power tool
Lisa asked:

I went to a steel fabricator but I wasn’t able to catch all the descriptions of the tools used for cutting, welding, drilling holes, etc.
(1) Is this an oxy torch or a welder? It cut through heavy steel. (http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/7809/dsc00995o.jpg)

(2) What is this called? I know it cuts through steel too. (http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/39/dsc01021d.jpg)

Thanks.

I’d like to try to answer your question, but the links do not work Robin B

They both look like Oxy-Acetylene torches. They burn Acetylene in Oxygen to give a very hot flame.

The second one has wheels on it to keep a constant distance from the work. Like that it would be used for cutting heavy steel by melting a strip of metal and leaving a gap.

The links work but I had to “copy link location” after right clicking on the link. Then I pasted them into the address bar. rickson
