My fiance shops at Home Depot alot. And he is going to start wood working soon and he wanted to know what were some good brands that Home Depot sells. He knows Ridgid is a good brand, but is there any other good ones to buy there? Thanks!

I prefer Milwaukee. Tried and true over many years. Porter Cable also makes good tools. hillbilly

I’d recommend doing some searching on tool reviews. There are many companies that make good tools. Not all of each companies tools are all excellent. So… Bosch makes some great tools same with Milwaukee, Makita, and DeWalt. Ridgid has a few tools that are good and several that are junk, imo. Makita and Milwaukee seem to get the best reviews for cordless tools, right now.
    Best of Luck! Tim

As far as your standard power tools Milwaukee is arguably the best brand. Bosch also makes a very nice product. Most corded tools as long as you are buying a name brand are all pretty good. I personally refuse to buy Dewalt tools because I believe they make a cheap product and have never had good luck with the tools that work gives me. If you are looking for cordless tools Home Depot just started to carry Hilti tools which were not really available to the public in the past. These are ultra high end tools designed and built in Germany. If your not looking to spend a fortune on cordless stuff I would suggest Milwaukee followed by Makita, Bosch and. Avoid ridged cordless tools for some reason we always had problems with them and no longer used them at work. Get ready for your fiance to start dropping piles of cash. Once the tool bug bites you just keep finding reasons to purchase more.

P.S. Avoid the temptation of Ryobi tools. They are cheap for a reason. Just wait and buy something worth owning Alec

    What type of “Wood working”
basic construction, remodeling, refinishing or custom furniture
True Home Depot has “wood working” tools but unless one knows the exact direction
I can not give an exact answer
    For custom furniture making, refinishing:
Older tools were made better, table saws, planers, band saws
The only thing plastic on them were the name tags
Look for tool auctions for these types of tools
There are tool add-ons like fences and guards
power assist units for inlaid door parts (self-feeders)
    Dust collection should be considered
    For basic construction
Home Depot is all you need bkstgzillgod
