What are some tools that are helpful for applying eye makeup? For instance, what does a eyelash curler do? What does primer (when talking about mascara) do? What are other tools that are helpful when applying eye makeup?

    an eyelash curler -

mascara primer is similar to primer when painting, it is a base color beneath the top layer. - How to apply Mascara -

I also use cosmetic puffs (instead of cotton balls, cosmetic puffs do not leave behind tiny threads)

same with q-tips. The common q-tips are made with swirls of cotton that leave tiny strands of cotton behind. Most decent makeup stores have applicators that look like q-tips but have a foam applicator tip which can produce nicer results.

    — There are a ton of videos on youtube showing how people get different effects with makeup. search and look for something interesting to try :D have fun! samantha samantha

Having multiple types of brushes are helpful tools.

I don’t know the technical names for these, but I use 4 brushes on a regular basis: a tiny angle brush for putting eye shadow beneath the eyebrows or lining the lids; a thin but wide brush to help blend light eye shadows; a thick, tipped brush to spread the color on my lid; and a fat rounded brush to put a shadow in the crease of my eye lid.

An eyelash curler’s purpose is to open up the eye and not leave your lashes flat out. I personally despise eyelash curlers and avoid using one. :P
Primer mascara helps create the allusion of fuller lashes and helps keep the regular mascara on your lashes for long periods of time.

Another helpful tool are Q-tips. Their purpose is to clean up; to fix those mess ups mascara can make or even-out eyeliner.

Alright, so I think I’ve answered to the best of my abilities. God bless!
