    Are you sure he wasn’t Mennonite? Anyhow, it’s possible. The rules do vary by colony and the often make exceptions for paid work. Gazoo

    In certain communities power tools are okay as long as they are not connected to the electrical grid. I believe I read in Fine Woodworking of an amish factory which used every manner of power driven machinery except that the electric motors were replaced with pneumatic motors supplied by a gasoline powered compressor. ⌡Machine Head⌠

    It’s ok for them to rent them. We had some amish timber cutters using rented saws and a rented skid loader. Jim
