I’m looking to get a new set of power tools, and I’ve looked on Home Depot and Lowe’s sites. So far the ones that have the most “bang for your buck” are Skil (which I’ve heard of before, but don’t really know much about them) and Ryobi. Are these brands good ones, or is there a reason why their products are cheaper than say Dewalt? Thanks!

Holly B asked:

My husband has a Ryobi drill and it’s cordless. He mentioned that the batteries he has for it don’t hold a charge anymore, and he’d actually just like a corded drill. Does Ryobi make something like the battery that you’d plug in the same spot, but would provide you with corded power? I couldn’t find anything on the web, then again I don’t know what it’s called :) Any ideas?

I was gifted a set of Ryobi power tools a few years back and have gotten good use out of them, but lately we have begun to do a LOT more serious work… I want to pick a good grade of cordless for my shop and projects that is good across to board so I don’t have 5 different types of batteries laying around. I was going to go ahead and go with Dewalt, but I have been hearing that they may not be as good as they once were…. I am open to suggestions, all the research I have done has not given me a great answer so I thought I would ask a question. Some of the projects behind and ahead, 36×60 barn, green house, tractor shed, 2 car garage, new shop structure, etc…

How does the new Ryobi line of tools hold up. The price is great compared to other cordless lines and the 18v batteries are 2 for $40 with a charger verses 1 for $80 with Dewalt. Are they worth it?

Hi, I’m looking to try and buy some replacemant batteries for my old Ryobi power tools?
