I need a good set of tools for some things around the house, possible renovation later, and some sidework. I was thinking about buying a 24 volt firestorm kit from lowes (2 batteries, charger, hammer drill, circ. saw, recip. saw, and a jig saw) for $220. Ive been told that some of the older firestorm tools are junk, havent heard anything bad about the new ones and my experience with a little 12 volt drill wasnt bad. Comes with a 2 year warrantee and lowes 4 year extended protection for $60 which offers 100% parts and labor coverage for mechanical and electrical failures. Should i buy the firestorm kit? $280 for good power tools for 6 years sounds ok to me or should i just cough up 300 more and get dewalt tools??

After the discovery of copper working and before the discovery of bronze, the History channel said that copper was used to make tools and decorations. They showed a lot of copper decorations, but no tools. So, what tools DID early man make from copper? Could they make swords, even if they had to be sharpened often? Could they make axes? Hammers? What tools could they make?

P.S. It was hard to decide what topic to put this question in.

We were fine up until I started asking questions like “you don’t seem to be as into me as I am you” etc. and he kind of freaked out. He told me he would rather just “be friends” but still kisses me and stuff. He just got out of a 10 year relationship and is scared to jump right into another serious one. But we still talk every night and hang out a lot and plan on spending new years together. It’s a really weird situation.

Anyway, about 3 weeks ago when things were fine I got him a Leatherman Wave (a super nice “tool” pocket knife) and got his initials engraved on the side of it. He works in construction and hunts so I thought it would be a pretty cool gift.

Creepy to still give it to him or would it be okay? I mean, what else am I going to do with it? I don’t expect anything from him, of course.

Help :( BTW, I got it for him for Christmas.
he is 29 and I am 24

I know that Norinco 1911s are a lot cheaper than American made ones and use a tougher steel for its construction. I’ve also heard conflicting reports on how they handle, and I was just wondering what you guys think.

Are there any other 1911s that use 5100 tool steel?

I am 19.

And I have been working at UPS for almost a year and I like “hands-on” jobs, and I told my parents that I want to go to college for engineering so I can be a construction worker.

My parents are foreign and a little racists but they clearly said to me, “WHAT?! You want to work like a mexican? They don’t get paid a lot!”

But I have always wanted to get down and dirty and use tools and build homes/buildings since I was a child. I was just wondering if I do be able to be as one, would I be able to make a living and make enough money for a family as a construction worker?
