Denial .

I’m in the construction industry and get paid $ 30.00 hour as a carpenter. I’m losing work to illegal immigrants who are getting $15.00 an hr. They pay no taxes, insurance, or transportation and sometimes own no tools of their own. In the end they are making more money than me and the builder is paying less to get the work done.
Who said they are not taking jobs no one wants?

Can they make you ride with someone else if it not a company vehicle? I need to know where the information comes from if they cannot. I need to be able to cite where it came from. It’s very important. The driver that is currently being forced to take passengers is not insured and is being required to transport propane as well tools and equipment required for work. This is not a construction job. Most of us are women and uncomfortable taking one or two men in the vehicle. (we are not sexist, just cautious about sexual harrasment). The employer is making it sound like if we don’t carpool we won’t have jobs, but no one thinks that just one person should be paid to get to work. We all need the extra funds. Any information would help. We are in Michigan. Any state or local laws relevant would also help. Thanks!!
I should alter some of my information a bit. I go to work alone. When I get there, I clock in, and then am forced to carpool to the jobsite with 4 other people. We have to go back to the store to clock out for lunch, clock back in an hour later and carpool back to the jobsite. We then have to finish our day and carpool back to the store to clock out for the day.

my fiance is looking to start a new career. he is looking into construction, has no exp and no tools. all ads in paper for carpenters helper say that you must have your own hand tools.

what does this entail?
i would like to get him set up so he can get one of these jobs, what will he need?
