Bruce T asked:

I have a 1990 Mercedes 300E with a broken antenna. It’s a power antenna and I am told that the ENTIRE unit (motor and antenna) must be changed (not just the antenna). If I get original manufacturer’s equipment (not an after market substitute which may or may not fit), can a DIYer (me) do the work? What tools will I need? Thanks.

Shurafa asked:

I have a large number of 4′ x 8′ pieces of .25 inch thick plywood that I need cut in half to both 4′ x ‘4 and 2′ x 8.

What it the optimal type of saw for this type of job and can you link me to a page that sells one.

I am basically looking for something that makes exact cuts for large pieces of wood.
Ok so it looks like a table saw is the tool I need. Would any table saw work for this or to I need a specific size since the piece of wood I am working with is so large?

does a power tool exist that would help me scrape adhesive off a wooden floor?

elizabeth lee asked:

i don’t want to risk using a big floor scraper and chewing it up, and i’d rather have something hand-held. i have found hammer/rotary drills and chipping hammers, but i don’t want to shell out big bucks for these if they will be ineffective and completely wrong for the job.
it is extremely old, thick black adhesive that was used to glue down a linoleum floor. there is also a layer of cardboard backer board on top that needs to be scraped off before we can even get to the adhesive. it is EXTREMELY difficult to scrape off and extremely time consuming. to do this to an entire room’s floor would take weeks.

I am a senior lady and have always been handy around the house. I just bought an 8 panel heavy duty wire fence. The kind you use to exercise dogs. Each panel is connected with metal brackets and I want to cut this fence in half so I will have 2 fences, each with 4 panels. What tool can I use for cutting these metal brackets? I use alot of power tools, so if I know which one will do the trick I probably have it. Thanks so much for your help.

Changing RPM on a power tool using a dimmer switch?

Antony G asked:

I own a portable power planer but ideally need to adjust the cutter rotation speed. As far as I know all portable planners are fixed with just one speed setting but I have been told that it’s possible to change the speed by using a dimmer switch. Essentially cutting the power cable and wiring in the dimmer switch. This probably sounds quite dangerous which is why I would probably get an electrian to do the job if it can be done.
