i want to get set of 18 volt cordless power tools, but i am too cheap to buy them all at once. Can i buy them from differnet brands and still expect the batteries to be interchangable?

I have used power tools, drills, solder guns etc. but never used a circular saw it seems more complicated. I need to cut a piece of wood to fix a plank missing in a very old house.

Will I have enough power to run a chop saw and small power tools on 20 amp 12 gauge wire 150 ft from breaker?

Entire circuit is 300 ft from main to shed and back again. Previous owner ran 12 gauge wire from a 20 amp breaker out to a shed. Very minimal lighting, maybe two or three outlets to run circular hand saw, jigsaw, and a chopsaw on occasion. The question is….will this wire provide enough volts at that distance to run these without tripping the breaker? If not, what size would have been adequate?

De Walt power tools 36 volt?

Spartan asked:

One for the fellas here. Im in the market for a new set of tools and have been eyeing up the dewalt 36v 4 piece combo kit, do you think 36v is overkill? i generally use a mixture of Dewalt 18v battery tools and corded circular/reciprocating saws but thinking of going all battery operation for convenience. I am a multi trade so i can find myself doing decking one week, fitting a kitchen the next and a bathroom after that. I was looking at either the 4 piece 36v or the 6 piece 18v dewalt combo pack, and although i know the drills well i only ever use corded saws so was wondering what the 18v saws are like?, if they are good then i would probably go for the 18v kit but having used my mates 36v Bosch circular saw which has plenty of power and loved it im not sure about the 18v saws. Its not like im gonna be cutting masses of wood cause if that’s the case then i would use my corded, the most would be ripping down sheets of ply, cutting joists/floorboards etc. Are the 18v saws up to it or should i get the 36v.

cheers.
Yeah ive heard a few things about Dewalts quality going downhill, but i havnt bought any new tools for a few years so wasnt sure what to make of it.

Blake H asked:

For power tools would I need a Miter Saw, a Circular Saw, and a Jigsaw? Also, does Bosch or DeWalt make better saws. And if Bosch or DeWalt don’t make good saws who does? I want to have a reasonably priced saw that works good, I sorta have a budget since im 15. Thanks!
lol, i wish i did have someone to help me.
