Sam asked:

Which do I need?
I just started going to school for animation and my old Laptop’s just not doing the trick anymore. I need a good desktop. I am much more familiar with PC, but regardless I want the best computer for using pro tools like Photoshop. But a good price.
Can with good knoweledge of digital media let me know whats up?

Also I wont be using it to play games with, but I will use it for animation and sound construction.

Thanks

There will be a lot of Mac fans and a lot of PC fans who will point you square at their own system because it’s the best in the world.

Here are the benefits of both:

PC: Raw power. You can get a powerful PC without paying as much as you would pay for a Mac.

    Mac:
Interface (clunky for a month or so, but then everybody loves it)

Battery life: 6 hours - great for a student who quickly needs to run between classes.

Final Cut Pro - This is the biggest reason why I’d pick a Mac over a PC if you’re into digital media. Final Cut Pro is like a dream compared to Premiere Pro - it almost makes editing too easy.

Everything else is about the same on both platforms - it comes down to a matter of choice.

I gotta give it to mac. I have both a mac and a pc right now, and the Apple works much better in a Media Editing environment. Plus, the Mac operating system is funner, and easier to navigate.

So I’d say go with the mac. even though it is more expensive, its worth the price. You get what you pay for.
