I spilled some alcohol onto my power tools, i cleaned it up, but will it be okay?
Anna asked:
I wiped some of it up, but I was just curious if someone could let me know if it’s flammable or hazardous?

If its rubbing alcohol then the alcohol will evaporate at room temp. if you want to be really safe throw it in the oven at the lowest setting. (make sure its below 250) this wont hurt it, it will just make sure that all the liquid is out of the tool Evan
if it was just pure alcohol then there should be no worries once it has dried and since alcohol evaporates very rapidly you shouldn’t have to wait very long . alcohol as well as thinners and other solvents wont be harmful to the inner electrical parts and would only serve as a cleaning agent but again as long as you let it evaporate and dry out to avoid the risk of a short or even a fire from the unevaporated residue. however if it were like a vodka cranberry mixture which is what i had last night at the bar it may get a bit sticky from the cranberry juice in which case you would want to clean it with rubbing alcohol to dissolve the sticky sugar from the cranberry juice that was mixed with the vodka so the armature shaft and bushings in the electrical power tool doesn’t corrode Alan
Alcohol evaporates fairly quickly and should not do any permanent harm. Until then, it is flammable. You should not use the tools until they dry thoroughly. StephenWeinstein
they will be ok. just don,t start them for awhile and the alcohol will evaporate. bandit_60
