I bought rear shocks for my ford windstar. I had my rear wheels replaced about 6 months ago. But those assholes, tightened the lug nuts so tight..they wont budge..I wonder what i would have to do If i get a flat!..how can i remove those lug nuts without powertools? I tried penetrating spray, but nothing..when i try to unscrew the nuts the whole car moves..i cant take it anywhere…
i know i tried to loosen the nuts with the car on the ground..when i try to move the nut..the whole wheel moves and makes the car move a little back..and forth (thats with the emergency brake on) on concrete..
this is not the first time i’ve had frozen nuts and bolts on this car..

You can try using a large “X” type lug wrench. But you still
might need to take it to a shop to have them loosened for
you. Do not spray penetrating oil onto the lugs! Mustang82

use a half inch breaker bar with a good socket on it ,that should free them up,they will be on real tight but a breaker bar with a socket will loosen them up,good luck. dodge man

I used a 1/2 inch long breaker bar with a long extention pipe, leveled to the ground, and used my leg or body weight to lossen the lug nuts…Yes, those people uses power tools, and never follow torque specification… Don’t forget to put 2X2 underneath the opposit tire you are removing, and pushed your emergency brake to avoid moving the whole cars…It works for me, so give it a try… oxo_07

Your supposed to losen the lug nuts with the car on the ground. Your car shouldn’t move, because most-likely you have it in park(it will move move a little bit, only your drive wheels should), to fix this put the E-Brake on(this will only work for rear wheel drives).

If you still can’t get the lug nuts off add more torqe to the wrench, ie sticking long pipe on the end. Also make sure your going counter-clockwise to loosen. Polack

You’re blaming the wrong assholes! Ford made the studs and nuts from garbage metal on the windstars and other models. Power tools are not designed to tighten more than a hand wrench. I would bust them off and replace the studs and nuts with quality parts from a parts house not Ford. I’ve had to do this several times when my friends got flat tires on the side of the road. It’s not as bad as it sounds. Good Luck. Ralphie

First, WD-40 is a literal life saver. Soup them up with it. Then take a 4-way wrench to it so that you can do a pull-push thing at the same time. Don’t worry about the car moving unless it actually starts rolling, it’ll sway a bit. J-Man

get a 1/2 in. breaker bar and a cheater pipe. baldie
