I’m just looking for a general estimate. It will be for a new construction home (approximately 2,000 sq ft) valued at about $200,000 once complete. It’ll be in a subdivision in a non-flood zone in semi-rural southeast Louisiana. I don’t have time to call around for quotes right now, and none of the online rate quote tools have info. for my zip code.
Thanks for the info. I didn’t mean to ask twice - my first question was mistakenly deleted.
Thanks everyone for the info, but I was finally able to find what I needed on the state dept. of insurance website. It has a long list of companies that offer HOI and rate comparisons. It looks like I’ll easily be able to get coverage for around $1,500 a year or less. Thanks again for your help.

Yep, that’s because pretty much no companies are writing new homeowners insurance in Louisana. You’ll have to go to the state fund.

Budget $4,000. Like I mentioned, when you asked this question a couple hours ago.
