Aspiring luthier (guitar builder), any tips?

I graduated last year, and I am beginning to take the first steps towards my guitar building career. Do you think that would be a good way to get into the business? Is there any specific/crucial tools or materials I should buy?
Any particular construction tips? Even just general tips on starting a business.
