Why are racism and prejudice used as POWER tools?
MS L asked:
Have you ever met someone (regardless of race) that uses thier race to create a self empowerment for themselves? Is this type of behavior as bad as racism or worse? Do you know someone that instantly says they are being discriminated against when they are challenged or questioned about thier actions? Will this type of behavior ever end? Can our society overcome such hatred as racism and rejudice when there are those that continue to use it as an excuse to get what they want - to gain power?
I was raised and live in a biracial family and have never - until recently experienced this type of a situation. Yes, life was hard when we were children and yes I witnessed some terrible things - unfortunately - mostly from the white people. Now, I am faced with the feelings and emotions that are creating hatred in my soul - how can someone say it is a race thing and know that there is no possible way that the issue is about race? The issue is simply about attitudes and behaviors.

Amish question! Kinda like Amish except more modern?
Apollo Creed asked:
I have had a couple interviews with a construction company (specializing mostly in concrete), met with their secretary, met with their president, and I think they are Amish, they wear bonnets, dresses, aprons, long-sleeve button-down shirts, canvas pants, and hats, the men have large beards, however, they use cell phones, power tools, gasoline powered tools, heavy diesel machinery, drive pick-up trucks, and overall seem very assimilated to secular cultures and seemed to be very ready to employ me, a dirty, young, redneck carpenter.
They live in the LaCrosse area of Central Wisconsin and speak with somewhat of a southern drawl.
If you know what they might be, please tell me some more about them, also the type of etiquette I should use on the job site, i.e. tobacco use, language, slang, overall manners.
