What Area Of Business Should I Open?

Hello asked:

I’m 19 years old 20 on the 29th November.

Ok, so I spent two years learning to be a construction site carpenter but I lost my Job (as well as another few thousand people) due to the industry going under, so I have been at college this past year learning about the printing industry but due to the economy there are no jobs in print!

I have always wanted to own a small business, not to be rich, just so I’m working off my own back and not being somone else’s bitch! lol

I wan’t to open a business in these kind of areas but I can’t think of any good areas.
I just need some advice or ideas of good areas to go into.

I like working with my hands, I like being on my feet, I like working outdoors, I like working with tools, I like working at height, I like working with people, I like dirty jobs, I like having the radio on in the background. I like being able to take my shirt off, I like working in the summer sun.

I am smart enough to go to college and learn something but.

I hate offices, I hate shirts and ties, I hate having to shave every day, I hate photocopiers, I hate cubicles, I hate stress, I hate no being able to talk to people, I hate annoying executives and I especially hate working with computers!! I like my home one but working with one is just awful!
I worked one summer in my mum’s office I HATED IT! basically lol.

I was thinking of window cleaner or painter and decorater, that kinda stuff.

What would you suggest???

All answers will be much appreciated!

Cheers!

i’m 22, male, have a 2:1 degree in Psychology, i have a full motorcycle license (and its my only real hobby, fixing, riding etc) but unfortunately no car license, go to the gym regularly, am good looking, computer literate, ppossescommon sense, am a hard worker, dedicated, punctual and intelligent.

im looking for a job where i can earn as much money as possible now, not after a few years into the job climbing the ladder. preferably above £21,000 a year.

the only real job experience has been working in a metal works factory which entailed programming, tooling and maintaining 3 punch presses (with a value of £1.2m) for 14 months when i finished school, in charge of 3 people to operate the machines.

the other job was working for a construction company for a total of 17 months (between breaks at uni during the holidays and since finishing) doing general labouring and assisting with all trades on site.

as much as i enjoyed these jobs, and did them to pay my way through uni and clear debts fast (labouring was tax free and i could earn £480 p/w) i need to find a new/proper job especially considering the current economic climate regarding the construction industry.

does anyone have any ideas?

your help is much appreciated

Quick advice on job interview today?

I’m going on an interview for a construction job that’s in my previous industry, and I would make a comfortable transition. The pay would be enough to get by, but the catch is I would probably have to use my own car, and tools, which I’ve never had to do before. I don’t think my insurance covers me for a work vehicle as I only have liability.

Second. I found out through my unemployment office yesterday that I probably qualify to go to school full time, and collect benefits. They said as long as Im full time I don’t have to look for work. I’m currently enrolled to go into Environmental Technology, as construction is in the toilet.

How should I approach this interview today. Can I afford to be critical, or negotiate high? Should I not roll the dice with my car insurance, or unemployment?

I want to apply for an internship that has to do with real estate, construction management, and financing in Urban Planning for a nonprofit housing development corporation in Los Angeles. I study Urban Planning, Criminology, and Sociology, and Minoring in Spanish, I’ve been around sports all my life, I like to travel, and learn the basics to computer programs…think I can pick this up as another tool?

Would you?

yahooanswers asked:

How is it that the rates are dropping to 12 p/hour. After 10hs x £12, that gives you £120.00, then you pay 20% tax, so that’s £24.00 p/hour gone, then you have to pay £20.00 per night in B&B, average £60 per week petrol working away, that’s £12.00 per day, then you spend a minimum of £5.00 per day on food. Then you have to supply Tools, Car with Tax/Insurance. So basically if you travel for £12.00 P/Hour you will only send home £120 minus £61 leaving you with £59 per day x 5 = £295. Then you will be away from family staying in a crap B&B and still have to pay for car/road tax/insurance/breakdown cover/hand tools out of that money, you might as well be on minimum wage in a local job…..and see your family at night…..
