I want to build a glass furnace, how do I proceed?
I want to build a SMALL glass furnace. I’m not working with glass as a business or even as an artist (yet!!!) I want to teach myself to blow glass as a weekend hobby. I’ve researched the subject extensively and the more I do, the more I want to learn. Yes, I’ve looked into getting lessons from a professional in my area, it just isn’t feasible for me.
I can weld (several types), I’m good with electronics (both use and construction thereof) and I have access to all of the tools I could ever need and I can get parts as easy as that.
Thank you so much.
Can someone please help me with this poem?
Is it understandable, what can I improve on it?
Father
You once built the world for me,
but I can only say this as a child,
when factories left me in awe–
a strip of city skyline, and smoke across the country,
shared snack and water canteen
mixing with the robust texture of tools,
and the musty smells of twine and steel.
We watched the sun set,
knowing far in the west lovers did the same,
but with prejudice;
not seeing how highways and railroads
disappeared in a haze,
or that the glare of sun on rails was better than
a dozen bands of gold necklaces;
and from the hood of a car,
knees bursting through jeans,
through the sky,
like a magnifying lens scorching the paper,
or the halos on our heads,
how the sun set everywhere;
even on days it needn’t follow us,
on an oak wood dresser as the shadows of branches swaggered,
your silhouette hunched over blueprints,
and a sinuous stream of smoke.
Distilleries fell from your tongue
and then hung on the breath of air
that ruffed my hair, and flung a cap onto my head–
a stale, secondhand comfort
that tucked me in with intoxicated blankets.
Even from the window I saw
How the sun sat behind telephone poles
like the aging spot on a bulb–
I loved it
not because it gave me longer days
but because it faded paths and seeped
like resin behind construction sites
as I watched the world set
and then harden.

I have to dress up for this history thing about the “Virginia Dare Bridge” and I have no clue on what to do ?
Okay well, my teacher said that it is called a walking advertisment, and I asked him about what I should dress up as to “represent” the Virginia Dare Bridge in North Carolina. And he suggested that, if I could find a construction hat and mabey a tool belt or something, that to just act like I “built” the bridge. But I don’t know, I was kind of aiming for something else, like not as strange and embarrassing (we have to do a presentation for it, INFRONT OF THE WHOLE CLASS) *freaking out* but i’m not so sure what.
Any Suggesstions that are creative but nothing “dramatic and embarrassing” though, would be VERY VERY VERY HELPFUL !!!!!
THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION !!!
