I’m taking the marine motorcycle power tool course at a trade school. I have to buy tools for the classes. I was wondering what is everyone’s opinion about Mac, Craftsman, Snap-on, Matco ECT… what is the best deal for a student?

I get Snap-on and mac at 50% off the retail cost. 15% of craftsman. Matco is 40%

What does a cylinder honing tool achieve?

Im rebuilding an engine and my trusty haynes manual has recommended to use a honing tool and a power drill on the inside of the cylinders. It doesnt go into alot of detail. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light as to what the honing tool actually does and if its absolutely nessessary and what the end result will be.
The cylinders are showing no signs of scoring or burning but are a tad glazed.
