Building your own aircraft - how to?

If one wanted to build a SONEX home-built what would be a reasonable construction time to completion?

Can a person with slightly better than average tool skills and a double car garage accomplish this providing they have a reasonably well equipped shop?

Just something the boys and I are tossing around as a winter project.

Please refer your question to Mike at Silver Fern who are the UK dealers. He’s a very good chap and will keep you right as well as answering all your technical questions.

Good luck with your project, they’re cracking little aeroplanes.

Several guys working together could build it in a few months if all went well. You need the approval of the FAA technical section, which will inspect your work.

The Experimental Aircraft Association (www.eaa.org) is your best all around source of information, and they can help you get through all the technical and legal processes.

    Good luck!

it depends on your skill level, and how much time you are willing to put in to working on the aircraft. it also depends on the complexity of the aircraft you are building. some take a few months, some take several years.
