At what time is it socially acceptable to start using loud tools?

I live in a residential area and was wondering what people think about neighbors using loud equipment (leaf blower, lawn mower, edger, etc.) early in the morning. I think before 9am is too early, and waiting until 10am on weekends would be courteous and thoughtful. But then again I do sleep later than most. I know construction is different, I’m not talking about that. Just neighbors. At what time do you think it’s socially accptable to use loud tools in the backyard in a residential area?

    A lot of people have busy lives. I say as long as it’s not before 8 am that’s ok. The trash comes early, should they start coming later so they dint’ wake you? Nope! It’s part of their job. They have jobs and so do your neighbors. I don’t think they should be mowing their lawn at 7 am or 9 pm out of courtesy, but 8 am-8 pm is a pretty generous time to be using loud tools. Weekends… well everyone likes to sleep in but that’s just not possible. Maybe they’re used to getting up at 6 every day and maybe they have a busy schedule and dont’ have time to get things done. Be glad that they’re mowing their lawn. Some of my neighbors mow it once a month!

    I personally think that 10 am is an appropriate time to use loud tools, since a lot of people are awake by then.

    I agree - 10am on a weekend would be nice. 9am during the week. I guess the mere fact that you ask that question makes us better neigbors and people than others. Oh, did I mention they started to replace the roof on my neighbors house at 7am on a Saturday morning. Nice huh? 10am on weekends is more than reasonable…..

    Most subdivisions have rules about this in the deed restrictions. During the week, construction crews are allowed to start at 7 am and on weekends 9 am. Thanks for being so neighborly. :)

    I think 9am on a weekday and 10 at the weekends would be acceptable!

    Call the town and find out what the rules are for loud equipment in your locale. If the person is in violation of the rules report them to the police.
