Mike Y asked:

I’m looking to get a new set of power tools, and I’ve looked on Home Depot and Lowe’s sites. So far the ones that have the most “bang for your buck” are Skil (which I’ve heard of before, but don’t really know much about them) and Ryobi. Are these brands good ones, or is there a reason why their products are cheaper than say Dewalt? Thanks!

A short time ago a friend and I were looking at over a half dozen brands of power tools.

Well, “All” were made in CHINA!….and I am talking about brands that are as American as apple pie!

It is much better to buy used “American Made” tools in good condition, then to spend your hard earned money on cheaply made Chinese imports.

Check eBay & Craigslist, always ask, “where was it made?” ?

I’ve had pretty good luck with the Ryobi products, & like that they carry a large selection of different tools to interchange using same batteries. They also have a better working feel to me than the Skil brand tools, but to each they’re own. Mark

Skil is garbage, Ryobi is okay, Black and Decker is a straight up joke. You get what you pay for though I’ve been finding dewalts quality has been dropping, but is still good stuff. Dr.Doom5
